The beauty of having a Blog is that you can communicate with a mass audience (or in my case, more than one person) in one form of media. In this instance, I am using this soapbox to dispel a rumour that is currently doing the rounds. On my return to work today, a number of people approached me to congratulate me and shook my hand. Confused I asked what for. All responded for finding and saving the Thai boys trapped in the cave in Chang Rai Thailand.
Okay lets dissect it
- I flew to South East Asia
- The day after I arrive in Asia, the boys are located safe and well in the cave system
- The day after the last one is saved and brought out of the cave, I return to Australia
I can categorically state that I was NOT (I repeat NOT) involved in the search and rescue efforts. It was just a co-incidence. Some people have gone to great lengths to link me with these efforts (including photo-shopping a photo of me in a wetsuit with a scuba tank) but I can say hand on heart I was actually enjoying good food and cocktails in Singapore.
These rumours are quite hurtful and I plan to put an end to these untruths and pursue the culprits.
